Straw Project

First Ryan and I wanted to create a base for our structure. And after that once we started to build up, we found out that it would not not hold by its self so we put supports into the middle. And once it was up about 6 feet it started to wable, so we connected straws to the corners of the figure and then connected the other end to the floor. Then we just made small adjustments from there.

1st) problem was trying to find a way not to use all the tape.
2nd) problem was getting the figure to stand.
3rd) problem was getting the figure to reach the ceiling.

1st) we cut a little hole in the straw to connect certain things, to cut down on tape use.
2nd) we just used more supports and braced it to the floor.
3rd) we put a few straws together at the top.

Ryan and i did not need more of anything.

Yes because we won.

Card Board Chair Project
Well Ryan and I tried to think of structures that could support Mr.Hunts weight. And we thought of a few ideas but we decide to go with one we did not think of right away. For the inside of our chair we are going to use something that some what looks like the inside of a wine box. And we found that this structure is very strong by placing books apon it, to see if it could possibly support Mr.Hunts weight.

First Dutch and I tried a couple designs for our base of the chair for the best support. We first tried a triangle for the leg of the chair but that did not seem like it was going to hold up very well. We then made a new design for our chair base with a square bottom and supports running in in a grid pattern for extra support within the chair. We drew out a design for our sides of our chair but we kept cutting down and did it over and over. We downsized our sides by about 2 or 2 1/2 feet. For the supports in the back we folded cardboard into triangles and put them on the back of the chair for the flat piece to lay over. And in this project i learned how to use many new tools from watching Ryan use them and also quite a few new ways how to use them.

Waterballon Launcher
In this project we had to build a waterballon launcher. And i was paired with Ryan Joe Mitch Missy and Stacey. I did not help that much in the planning of this launcher but the design is a tube with bungie cords connected to it, with a smaler tube in side to give the ballon some extra force. Also in our first design we were going to springs to propel the ballon, but the springs had to much tension so we cound not use them. And we were not going to originally use a peice of PVC pipe to go on the inside, we were actually going to use a 6 in peice of tubing. I feel that our groups launcher will work fairly well because we test fired it and it launched the inner peice several feet into a wall.
